London, England

London is such an exciting place to be, whether you wish to experience the past, present, or future. In this vibrant city you will not be at a loss for things to see and do or places to go.
The easiest and most economical way to move around London is on the "Tube" (the underground). Travel cards can be purchased for unlimited travel for 1, 3, 4, or 7 days, for travel just within central London. The ease of their color coded underground system makes even the inexperienced traveler a pro in no time at all. Traveling on the Tube is an experience not to be missed as it will give you the opportunity to experience life here as it happens.
London offers something for everyone of all ages. One of the best ways to see the major highlights of this city is by an open bus tour. This is a great way to familiarize yourself with the city, decide which attractions you might want to further explore and map out the best way to utilize your time. Try to take the open bus tour with a live guide as it will add a personal touch to the ride, and answer any questions you might have along the way. Most of the hotel Concierges can either arrange this for you, or point you in the proper direction. You can hop on and off as you wish and most tickets are valid for a 24 hour period, some also include a cruise on the river Thames. Take a ride on the London Eye (a huge enclosed Ferris wheel) for a birdseye view of the city; lines tend to be long so make reservations in advance. If you can, try to be there at dusk to see one of London's most beautiful views. Seeing the sunset over the Thames, with the House of Parliament and Big Ben glowing in the background is a sight to behold.

Take the time to explore the many museums London has to offer including the Natural History, the new Tate Modern, the British Museum and the National Gallery. Also on your list of
"must see" should be the London Zoo, the London Dungeon, the Cabinet War Rooms, and the Tower of London which includes a viewing of the spectacular Crown Jewels. Of course, no visit to London would be complete without seeing the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace. There are Cathedrals to visit, and historic walks you can take. If you love the Beatles, or Sherlock Holmes, or are intrigued by the stories of Jack the Ripper, there are "London Walks" where a guide takes you on a journey back in time and walks you through history and the landmarks of that era.
If theatre is your fancy, then take in a hit show, or the ballet or opera, London offers it all. Many shows open on the London stage before coming to Broadway. Special offers are available for last minute theatre goers.

If you like to shop - take out your check book and credit cards and be prepared to find just about anything you want. Everyone knows the name Harrods – and a visit to this store is an experience in itself. Don’t miss the Food Halls for the most spectacular food displays!
Restaurants are plentiful and range from intimate local pubs to top name restaurants offering a fine dining experience. I myself was in my glory with the array of Indian restaurants (my favorite), which are abundant in every area of London. My trip to London this time was a special one for me. I was one of the lucky few to obtain tickets for the long awaited reunion of the 1960's Rock Band "Cream" who performed for four nights at the Royal Albert Hall. Although I was a child when the band officially broke up in 1967 - the music still had found it's way to me, and although they only performed as a band for a little over two years, they were one of the most influential rock bands of our time. The band played its final concert in 1967 at the Royal Albert Hall, and it was only fitting, that they would reunite on the same stage 38 years later. It was an event I will remember always.
London is a fantastic city and has something for everyone. You will not be disappointed in making this your next vacation destination.
